This series focuses on the social, cultural, economic, and political factors that have shaped Muslim societies in both contemporary and historical contexts.  'Muslim societies' here is defined broadly to include Muslims in various parts of the world, in both rural and urban settings.  The series examines the dynamics of various aspects of life in Muslim societies, including, political, social and economic encounters and interactions across class, religion, ethnicity, nationality, and gender; the relationship between law and society; transnational flows and the impact of changing patterns of migration; and the role and impact of artistic and cultural forms of production.

Interdisciplinary Series on Sustainability

This series explores the meaning of modernity in the era of sustainability. Sustainability conceives of itself too narrowly if it merely sets itself the task to develop new technologies using the old reifying methods of investigation. Therefore the series is intended as an interdisciplinary platform for intra-, inter-, andtrans-disciplinary dialogues among the sciences, social sciences and humanities, exploring issues of social, cultural, economic, and environmental sustainability. We invite works on such topics as foundational philosophical discussions of sustainability, theoretical approximations, the philosophy of science, ethnographic investigations, case studies, sustainable urban planning, theology and sustainability, religion and sustainability.
